HOW MANY BULBS DO I NEED?

The number of ceiling lights you need to illuminate a room depends on several factors:

  • Room size: The larger the room, the more lights you will need.
  • Ceiling height: High ceilings require more spotlights to effectively illuminate the space.
  • Type of spotlight: The power and aperture angle of the spotlights influence the amount of light they emit and the distance at which they illuminate.
  • Room use: Rooms where tasks requiring a lot of light are performed (such as the kitchen) need more lighting than rooms where a more relaxed atmosphere is sought (such as the bedroom).

A general rule

A common estimate is to use 4 watts per square meter. For example, for a room of 10 square meters, you would need about 40 watts.

Other factors to consider

  • Additional lighting: In addition to general ceiling lighting, you can use floor lamps, sconces or LED strips to create different atmospheres and highlight specific areas.
  • Distribution of light bulbs: The distribution of light bulbs is important to achieve uniform illumination. Avoid placing all lights in the center of the room.

How to calculate the number of bulbs?

  1. Measure the room: Calculate the area of the room in square meters.
  2. Multiply by 4: This value will give you an estimate of the total wattage you need.
  3. Divide by the wattage of each bulb: The result will give you an approximation of the number of bulbs you will need.

Example:

If you have a room of 15 square meters and use 5 watt LED bulbs, you would need approximately 12 bulbs (15 m² x 4 W/m² = 60 W / 5 W/focus = 12 bulbs).

Where can I find more information?

There are many online lighting calculators that can help you determine the exact number of bulbs you need. In addition, you can consult a lighting specialist for personalized advice.
